Leiko Ikemura. Motherscape.
The Japanese-Swiss artist Leiko Ikemura (*1951 in Tsu, Japan), known for her poetically powerful works in which she unites Western and Eastern influences, devotes herself to themes such as femininity, transformation, and identity. Her oeuvre stands out for its surrealist visual language; a central aspect of her output is the close linkage of humankind and nature, expressed not only in the melding of body and landscape but also via the inclusion of hybrid beings.
Accompanying Ikemura’s first solo show in a museum in Austria, the 128-page catalog featuring texts by Catherine David and Brett Littman.
