Adrian Ghenie. Schattenbilder.
Romanian artist Adrian Ghenie honours Egon Schiele, one of the central figures of Expressionism, with a groundbreaking exhibition. Based on the idea and concept of Ciprian Adrian Barsan (C.A.B.), Schiele's works - previously only known through historical black and white photographs - are reinterpreted and transferred into the present through Ghenie's powerful and visionary painting. The exhibition is complemented by in-depth text contributions and an exclusive discussion with the artist.
The accompanying, specially designed catalogue, inspired by the unmistakable design signature of the renowned graphic design studio Bureau Borsche, known for its iconic designs for Balenciaga, presents the exhibited artworks in the highest print quality. State-of-the-art offset printing techniques and detailed close-ups emphasise the intense materiality and expressiveness of Ghenie's works. A portrait of the artist, taken by Juergen Teller, rounds off the publication and gives it a personal and artistic touch.
